CyberGhost VPN: A Worthy Service at a Very Reasonable Price

Since 2011, CyberGhost has been one of the popular VPNs on the global market. It is based in Romania ? a country which does not impose severe regulations on Internet users which is a definite advantage. Currently, the provider operates a network of 3550+ servers in more than 60 countries, and this is quite impressive. The service offers high speeds, unlimited bandwidth, user-friendly interface, excellent customer support, and a set of strong features to protect users? privacy and security. The software itself works equally well with all known platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android. In our CyberGhost VPN review, we wanted to see whether the service is worth using or is it as bad as some users describe it. Read our findings below. [maxbutton id=”1″ ]

CyberGhost VPN Pros and Cons

If compared to other VPNs, CyberGhost has some vivid advantages. And the minuses appear to be quite typical for other providers. Here are the lists:

  • Pros Affordable long-term plans Free 24-hour trial Allows using up to 7 devices per subscription High speeds 24/7 live support
  • Cons Costly monthly plan Fails to unblock Netflix

How Much does CyberGhost Cost?

CyberGhost’s monthly plan is one of the most expensive in the market. But if you decide to stay with the provider longer, the prices become very appealing. Here is the list for you to see the difference: 1 month ? $12.99 1 year ? $5.25/month ($63 billed every year) 2 years ? $3.69/month ($88.56 billed every 2 years) 3 years ? $2.25/month ($89.90 billed every 3 years) The 3-year plan is the most attractive. It is less than a dollar more expensive than the two-year package.

Also, note that the company offers a 14-day money back guarantee with a 1-month plan and is ready to give a refund within 45 days if you purchase one of the longer-term plans. You can use up to 7 devices per subscription (all platforms). The provider also offers a dedicated IP for $5/month which guarantees an extra layer of security to you only. The company is somewhat flexible in payment methods. Therefore, you can pay with a credit card, via PayPal, WebMoney or in bitcoins. The latter variant will leave you anonymous even for the provider.

Speed and Performance

When deciding whether to use a VPN, people are worried that it will make their connection slower. And actually, VPNs do increase latency and decrease upload and download speeds. That is how they work. However, different providers manage to keep high rates so that you won’t even notice any slowdowns. We wanted to see how well CyberGost VPN does on that. So, we chose three of their servers in different locations (the US, Europe, and Asia) and tested them. Here are the results: Seattle, WA

  • Download: 22.3 Mbps
  • Upload: 9.01 Mbps

Vienna, Austria

  • Download: 62.1 Mbps
  • Upload: 23.46 Mbps

Hong Kong, China

  • Download: 7.01 Mbps
  • Upload: 5.06 Mbps

These are not the best results if compared to some other providers. But still, not the worst ones. CyberGhost VPN remains a suitable service for streaming and torrenting.

Does CyberGhost Unblock Netflix?

One of the reasons why people opt for a VPN is because they want to get access to geo-restricted content, including Netflix. But the streaming giant does all it can to block VPNs, and its efforts prove to be successful. Not so many providers can override the ban, and many of them just give up. Not CyberGhost VPN though. The company is constantly trying to unblock Netflix.

Some reviewers say that they manage to get a stable connection through the US-based servers from time to time. Nevertheless, all our efforts were unsuccessful so far, and we were not lucky to gain access to Netflix’s content. We will continue trying.

Final Thoughts

Our CyberGhost review shows that it is by no means terrible. It is one of the most high-quality providers on the market. The service is an excellent choice for people who need a VPN for torrenting and streaming at a reasonable price. It is also a good choice if you need a reliable tunnel to mask your connection. And with their refund policy, you have nothing to lose. However, if you can’t imagine your life without Netflix and want to see high-speed results, it is better to check other options.
